SAM Coley, a baritone in the choir and current Mayor of South Woodham Ferrers was ejected from a plane at a height of about two and a half miles, in aid of Muscular Dystrophy UK.

Sam plummeted to earth at up to 140 miles per hour before, at around 5,000 feet, his parachute opened and he could start enjoying the scenery for the final part of the jump.

He said: “It was great fun and as a result we hope to raise lots of dosh for our chosen charity Muscular Dystrophy UK who do sterling work in supporting those who suffer from muscle wasting conditions and their families”.

He, along with Deputy Mayor Kevin Golding, are raising money for the charity.

Leigh Orpheus Male Voice Choir will also be giving a concert in aid of Muscular Dystrophy UK at the William De Ferrers Hall in South Woodham Ferrers on April 22.
